Verne Troyer who played Mini-Me in two Austin Powers films has died. No official cause of death has been released but the statement announcing the 49 year old actor’s passing reveals that he had undergone a recent time of adversity. It urged people to be kind saying, “depression and suicide are very serious issues. You never know what kind of battle someone is going through inside.”
Ellen DeGeneres was in Calgary on the weekend speaking to thousands at the Scotia Bank Saddledome. The iconic comedian brought the crowd to tears when she took the stage and paid tribute to the victims of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash. DeGeneres carried a hockey stick, kissed it in front of the cheering crowd and then placed it alongside several other sticks on the stage. Degeneres told the crowd “My heart breaks for everyone, it hurt all of us.”
Legendary Hollywood director James Cameron is taking a shot at the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The man behind franchises like Terminator and Avatar says he’s hoping Avenger ‘fatigue’ will set in soon. Cameron feels the movies have dominated too much of the genre lately. He says he’s a fan of the movies but believes there are other stories to tell.
