May Days, long weekend and Graduation; it’s going to be a great month of May. May we enjoy the sunny warm days, may we enjoy the Victoria Day holiday and may all of you survive the Grad festivities.
Now, what to bring to all the celebrations of sunny days, holidays and congratulations. Backyard barbecues, gatherings with family and friends sharing delicious food mean that it’s time to pack up the cooler.
Barbecues are great for bringing people together. Fire up the grill and pick up some delicious fresh steaks cut steaks from Urban Fare.

ZESTY STEAK WITH MANGO PEPPER SALAD
1 lb. steak (top quality) approx. 2 inches thick 2 tablespoon soy sauce or fish sauce
2 tablespoon lemon or lime juice 2 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1 teaspoon ground ginger
Place steaks in casserole dish. Whisk together soy sauce, lemon or lime juice, ketchup oil and ground ginger. Pour over steak and coat. Let marinate 10 minutes (or longer is ok too).
Saving marinade, place steak on BBQ grill turning and coating with marinade. Cook till browned and desired doneness. Let steak stand 5 minutes then slice thinly across grain. Serve with salad
MANGO PEPPER SALAD
1 mango – peeled, pitted and slice into think stick slices 1 red pepper- sliced into thin strips
1/3 cup sweet onion – thinly sliced 1 teaspoon chopped fresh coriander
1 tablespoon lime or lemon juice 1 tablespoon veggie oil or light olive oil
Dash hot pepper sauce
Place mango, pepper and onion in bowl, toss gently. Mix together oil, coriander lime or lemon juice and pepper sauce. Pour over sliced mango mixture and stir gently.
