Corey’s “Free Ride” Blog: Food Truckin’

I’m beginning to feel like I’m on a summer-long treasure hunt… I continue to find the gems that make up Kelowna.

11am – 12:43pm: Hector’s Casa (2911 Pandosy St.)
Again, twist my arm to go to a restaurant for 103 minutes.  On a sunny day.  In Pandosy Village.  It’s all part of the job.
I hereby announce that Hector’s Casa is the Hidden Gem of Pandosy.  A very unassuming exterior, but you’re met with authentic Mexican cuisine as soon as you pass through the front door, and surprise! A beautiful outdoor patio in the back, away from the noise of the street.  At least a dozen contest-goers remarked to me how they never knew about Hector’s.  Of course, the enticing addictive taste of fresh guacamole sits before me on my table.  I swear I am going to gain 20 pounds this summer from all the free food that our wonderful Free Ride hosts are providing!

3 – 4:43pm: Aqua Friends Pool, Spa & Patio (1990 Cooper Road)
Sadly, this is the third and final 103 minutes I will spend at Aqua Friends; a family business like no other. I don’t know how many other family members I can meet; the parents, two sisters, two brothers… I assume I am invited to Sarah’s upcoming wedding. Ha!  Once again, they fired up the parking lot BBQ and were grilling up hot dogs for all the hungry contest-goers.  With all the food that I see every day, maybe I should make the Jeep a food truck?
Speaking of family, Connie and Lyn brought their dad out today. Connie has already qualified for the Jeep, Lyn is still trying, so maybe Dad (or the dog) will bring her luck!
Unless I do 103 minutes at the pillow factory, Aqua Friends is the most comfortable remote I’ll do; such great patio furniture, it’s better than your living room couch!  I know this won’t be last I see of the family though; they have promised they’ll visit when I am set up at neighbouring businesses!
