Corey’s “Free Ride” Blog: Mother’s Day

You know that scene in Arrested Development when Buster gets drunk off juice and screams “Mother!”?

11am – 12:43pm: MATCH Eatery & Public House (1300 Water St.)
The last time I was at MATCH, I was stationed outside of the restaurant, though inside the casino.  MATCH has a couple of balconies that overlook Water Street (and coincidentally, where Rock the Lake will rock!).  Today, management let me hang on the balcony for my 103 minutes!  It was a perfect day; warm-to-hot, with high cirrus clouds blocking direct sunlight.  Being on the balcony had me accessible to contest goers looking for me; MATCH doesn’t have a street entrance, so you have to walk in through the casino. I was able to call out to my whereabouts, as well as sing a little bit (consider it warming up the Prospera Place parking lot for Rock the Lake).  MATCH also delighted several of our listeners with free gift certificates!  Can’t wait to come back next week!

3 – 4:43pm: Strong Roots Flooring (688 Fitzpatrick Road)
Back to Strong Roots for the third and final time.  Every time I am here, it’s always blazing hot out!
I had two matriarchal visits here; first, Colleen, Jackie and Isabelle stopped by.  Colleen and Isabelle are a couple of regular contest goers, and Colleen has already qualified for the final draw at Rock the Lake.  Isabelle is still trying for those tickets.  But today, I was introduced to Jackie; Colleen’s daughter, and Isabelle’s mom!  I had to snap a photo of them by the Jeep.  Three generations of Beach Radio listeners!  Later, Jody and her daughter Breanna popped by Strong Roots.  Jody’s husband Mark won the 2018 Free Ride Jeep!  Breanna has been at school out East for most of the contest, but she recently returned and introduced herself last week.  This time, her and mom came together, but I guess I was so gobsmacked at seeing last year’s Jeep, I forgot to snap a pic! Next time!
Sadly, that’s it for Strong Roots Flooring in the contest.  I sincerely hope that if you’re reading this and are considering getting new floors, or refinishing some old ones, that you call them.  They are a great local business!
