Corey’s “Free Ride” Blog: Goin’ Metro

This Free Ride contest is officially a truly Metro Kelowna competition! I’ve been to Lake Country, and today, I was in Peachland!

11am – 12:43pm: I.G.A. Peachland (5500 Clement Cres.)
72 hours ago, Peachland was not on the schedule.  So I was very delighted to see the turnout we had at the IGA!  Whenever I am in West Kelowna with the Jeep, I often watch contestants scribble down “Peachland” on their Entry Forms.  Now, I’m in your backyard!  And believe me, I heard about it!
“It’s about time you came to Peachland!”  “I’ve been waiting for the Jeep to come down here”  “Corey, run for mayor!”
I’m honoured.  We had a great location, drivers on Hwy 97 were spotting the Jeep from the road and coming in, and other businesses in the strip mall were coming by as well!

3 – 4:43pm: Metro Liquor (1175 Ellis St)
Metro Liquor is an incredibly busy spot, with a bustling parking lot!  Originally, I planned on parking the Jeep perpendicular in front of the doors and having my tent set up.  But that got the kibosh because those parking spots are desperately required!  (I quickly learned this). So instead, we just set up the table, and I just DEALT WITH THE SUN.
Thankfully, since it’s a liquor store, there is a cold room.  The staff encouraged sales rep Steve and I to cool off regularly in the cold room.  Holy crow, was that needed!  Go from 36º on the pavement, to probably 10º in the room.  What a treat!
It was a nice reprieve to be able to apply sunblock.  And speaking of sun, Corona’s were on an awesome special today only, so hopefully you were able to take advantage of that deal.
Kevin, who has previously qualified for the final Jeep draw at Rock the Lake, payed a visit and surprised me with a long weekend liquid treat!
