Second round of mosquito treatments
The battle against mosquitoes moves back to street next week in many Central Okanagan neighbourhoods.
Weather permitting from Monday, August 6 through Thursday, August 8, approximately 11,000 roadside catch basins will be treated for the second time this summer to prevent mosquito hatches.
Regional District Mosquito Control program crew wearing high visibility vests driving scooters or a Chevy pickup with Mosquito Control signage on them, will be stopping at catch basins along roads in Kelowna, Lake Country, Peachland, a portion of West Kelowna Estates in the City of West Kelowna and the Sunset Ranch community in the Central Okanagan East Electoral Area.
They’ll drop water soluble pouches containing environmentally approved mosquito larvicide pellets into the catch basin to prevent hatches.
