Corey’s “Free Ride” Blog: Summer Camp

I was handed the keys to the Jeep on May 21st, and today, I handed them back.  The final two stops on the Free Ride contest were on opposite sides of the city.

11am – 12:43pm: Habitat for Humanity ReStore – West Kelowna (1793 Ross Road)
Final morning starts at the ReStore on the west side.  When you’re looking for furniture, plumbing, accessories, lighting, and everything else for home or office, try the ReStore.  All their proceeds go directly to helping build homes for local families in need, so you win twice.
On this last day of the contest, all of my regular followers came to say hi (and goodbye), and I even got a special visit from one furry fan of Beach Radio; Beacon the Beaver!  Beacon (who’s identity will remain hidden) has come around with mom Wendy on a number of occasions, and they were on their way to Penticton today.  I’ve met many dogs this summer, but Beacon is my first beaver.  It was quite the site to see her fill out an Entry Form!

3 – 4:43pm: The Rocket Wash (Corner of Hwy 97 and Edwards Road
And it comes down to this, the final 103 minutes of the contest.  My first trip to The Rocket Wash, it poured.  I unveiled my Beach Radio beach umbrella on trip number 2 to keep from sunburn.  Today, the full 10’x10′ tent was called into action to keep me shaded from the blistering 35º!  And the press to win our final pair of tickets was on! The Sun was blazing, and so was the pace!  I joked with some of the regulars that it was like the end of summer camp; saying goodbye, stay in touch, see you next summer?!  When time expired at 4:43, instead of the “where are you headed tomorrow” question, I was met with “what happens next?”
Thanks to Jim and the gang at The Rocket Wash, I had a freshly Ultimate-ly Washed Jeep to bring down to Rock the Lake.  The biggest problem I had with keeping the Jeep “show clean” was the water spots after a wash.  Not an issue with The Rocket Wash; they hand dry your car!
Off to Rock the Lake we go!
