Trailer fire was arson: RCMP
Police say a fire that destroyed a recreational vehicle in Lake Country was arson, and it was not a random act.
Officer attended a fire in the 14800 block of Pelmewash Parkway Wednesday night.
“When police officers arrived, the Lake Country Fire Department was already on scene working to extinguish a trailer fully engulfed in flames. The property owner was out of town at the time of the fire and no one was hurt,” said Cpl. Meghan Foster of Kelowna RCMP.
A black SUV was seen fleeing the area at the time the first ignited, and police are hoping any witnesses will come forward to help identify the vehicle nd the driver.
“The evidence gathered to date revealed the cause of the fire to be arson and it is not believed to be a random act. The Lake Country General Investigation Section has taken conduct of the file and will be working in partnership with the Lake Country Fire Department to determine what events led up to the fire. Investigators will be in the area of the scene throughout the next few days canvassing for video and looking for witnesses,” Foster added.
