Police standoff with man at dock
Police are involved in standoff with a man on the Kelowna waterfront.
The incident began around 1:10 p.m. with a man allegedly waving a hunting knife in the 200 block of Bernard Avenue, with the man later isolated himself of the dock at the Kelowna waterfront marina.
“Police officers remain on scene and are diligently working to resolve the situation,” said Cpl. Megan Foster.
“The RCMP Emergency Response Team, Crisis Negotiation Team and Kelowna Fire Department have been brought in to assist the RCMP frontline officers with de-escalating the situation.”
Foster says their number one priority is the safety of everyone involved including the public, the police officers and the man.
“We are asking for citizens to avoid the area surrounding the marina until we can peacefully resolve the issue.”
