Show some love for teachers
Saturday is World Teacher Day — a great day to thank a teacher for all they do.
The Central Okanagan Board of Education has issued a news release, saying its proud to recognize the many teachers who help make their district a leader in student success.
Board chairperson Moyra Baxter says teachers empower our students to be lifelong learners and healthy, productive members of a global society.
“Teaching is more than a career, it’s a calling,” said Baxter. “Those who dedicate themselves to teaching take on both challenges and rewards as they encourage, mentor, and educate our students. We are very grateful for their commitment.”
Every day, more than 1,700 education professionals work hard to create a brighter future for over 23,500 students in Central Okanagan Public Schools.
Central Okanagan Public Schools Superintendent Kevin Kaardal encourages people to show gratitude to their teacher, their child’s teacher, or even reach out to a past teacher who made a difference in your life.
“I am grateful for the many teachers who guide learners to achieve their hopes and dreams and develop the attributes of a learner in Central Okanagan Public Schools. Teachers’ work is critical to the development of civil societies across the globe,” said Kaardal.
UNESCO launched World Teachers’ Day in 1994.
Worldwide, there are more than 60 million teachers, the majority of them working in developing countries with limited resources.
