Police incident ends with man’s arrest
Police closed parts of Gellatly and Witt Roads in West Kelowna and brought in the Emergency Response Team to deal with a distraught man who barricaded himself in a home Wednesday morning.
“Shortly after 11:30 a.m., West Kelowna RCMP were called to a residence located in the 3000 block of Wetton Road, for reports of a disturbance involving a distraught and barricaded male. In order to ensure public safety, police closed a portion of the roadway and called for the assistance of highly tactical trained officers and crisis negotiators,” said Const. Lesley Smith.
Negotiators were able to get a 42-year-old man to exit the home peacefully, and he was taken into custody
“The West Kelowna and Southeast District RCMP wish to extend their thanks to all those who were impacted, for their patience, understanding and full cooperation during the temporary road closures.” added Smith.
