Charges approved in voyeurism investigation
A Kelowna man is facing voyeurism and multiple other charges after a camera was found in a washroom at a Kelowna winery.
“On November 14, 2019, the B.C. Prosecution Service approved 18 criminal charges against Ian Michael Leighton, a 43-year-old Kelowna man. These charges are in relation to an investigation following the discovery of a camera in the washroom at Summerhill Winery on August 23, 2019,” said an RCMP news release.
The charges include: 13 charges of voyeurism contrary to Section 162(1) of the Criminal Code, one charge of obstruction of justice, three charges of making of child pornography, and one charge of possession of child pornography.
“The investigation was led by the Kelowna RCMP General Investigation Section,” said Cst. Solana Par. “The investigators continue to support the victims involved, and will aid in supporting the prosecution as the investigation now transitions to the judicial process.”

Kelowna BC – Man Arrested in Voyeurism Investigation August 26, 2019
A local man has been arrested after Frontline officers were called to a local business regarding a possible voyeurism offence.
On August 23, 2019 Kelowna RCMP received a report of a possible voyeurism offence after a witness located what they believed to be a small camera hidden in the staff washroom of a local business.
Through police investigation, a male who was employed by the business was arrested and could be facing charges of Voyeurism pending the outcome of the investigation. He was released from police custody with an upcoming court date.
“The Kelowna General Investigations Section are continuing their investigation into this incident as they work with the staff and Management at that location,” stated Cst. Lesley Smith Kelowna RCMP. “Evidence has been seized in relation to this offence and once it has been properly processed, RCMP will be able to determine how many victims may be involved and further charges could be forwarded.”
