New leader for United Way
United Way Southern Interior B.C. has a new executive director.
Kahir Lalji brings over 10 years non-profit leadership and community development experience including deep roots with United Way.
Lalji holds a fellowship in developmental leadership and evaluation, and a Masters in Gerontology from Simon Fraser University.
“His passion in working with underserved populations has driven his success in supporting community-based programs and services across the Province. Kahir has worked with a diverse set of stakeholders in creating healthy, inclusive communities,” says a news release from United Way.
In addition to his work as Provincial Director of Population Health for the United Way Lower Mainland, Lalji has facilitated effective, longstanding partnerships with all levels of Government, Civil Society organizations, and has supported several non-profits in senior leadership capacities.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are incredibly excited to announce Kahir as the new Executive Director of the SIBC team,” said Sinead Scanlon, United Way Board Chair. “His wealth of experience in the not for profit sector, as well as his depth of knowledge of the United Way movement made this a perfect fit to lead our United Way. We look forward to welcoming Kahir to his new home in the Okanagan where he can spend time throughout our newly expanded region and continue to build on the strong community partnerships across the Southern Interior of B.C.”
Lalji, who started his duties this week, plans to meet with all key United Way stakeholders and champions in early 2020 as well as dive into the development of the United Way strategic plan for the next 15 months.
