UPDATE: Highway crash claims life
UPDATE 6 a.m.
Slippery roads claimed a life on Highway 97 north of Summerland Thursday afternoon.
The driver of a car lost control and was broadsided by a semi.
RCMP told the Penticton Herald the passenger was killed and the driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The coroner was brought in to help in the investigation. (Story by Russ Byth)

UPDATE 4:20 p.m.
Traffic is once again moving on Highway 97 north of Summerland after a serious motor vehicle collision.
Reports say a car and a semi were involved in snowy conditions.
Police have yet to release details.

RCMP are advising that Highway 97 is closed five kilometres north of Summerland near Callan Road.
The road is closed in both directions due to a serious motor vehicle collision.
No other details have been provided.
Drive BC says an estimated time of reopening is not available.
