UPDATE: Police converge on downtown; suspect arrested

RCMP say one suspect was arrested after a bank robbery led to a large police presence in Kelowna’s downtown Wednesday.
A suspect entered the TD Canada Trust on Ellis Street around 1 p.m. and demanded cash, then fleeing with an undisclosed amount
Police say all available resources flooded the area to search for the suspect including frontline officers, the canine unit and a helicopter.
A 48-year-old Kelowna man was arrested and is facing potential charges.
“After a coordinated search, officers located the suspect a short time later in the area of Pandosy Street and Leon Avenue,” stated Corporal Jocelyn Noseworthy, spokesperson for the Kelowna RCMP. “He was arrested without further incident.”

Police have yet to release details on an incident in downtown Kelowna which media reports say was a bank robbery at the TD Canada Trust at Leon and Ellis.
A number of police officers have been in the area, along with a canine unit and a police helicopter in the air, apparently searching for suspects.
The bank has a notice on the door, saying it is temporarily closed.
