Double fatal crash on highway

Two people have died in a crash between a passenger vehicle and a transport truck on Highway 5 north of Barriere.

The head-on collision occurred during the noon hour today with the two victims in the passenger vehicle.

“The investigation into the cause of this collision is in its early stages and nothing has been ruled out, however road and weather conditions are being considered as a possible contributing factor due to recent snowfall in the area,” said Cpl. Mike Halskov, BC RCMP Traffic Services.

Highway 5 is currently closed for the investigation.
