Crews douse structure fire
Firefighters dealt with a fire at a outbuilding in the 2000 block of Colleen Road in West Kelowna Tuesday night.
“Rescue responded to multiple reports of an out building fully involved. When crews arrived they found a large out building fully involved with active fire,” said assistant fire chief Lionel Bateman.
There were no occupants inside and one firefighter suffered a minor injury.
The cause is under investigation.
Meantime, a fire to a recycling cardboard compacter outside a business in the 2200 block of Baron Road Tuesday night is being treated as suspicious.
“The first officer on scene reported visible smoke coming from the exterior of the compactor where it connected to the building,” said Kelowna platoon captain John Kelly.
Police are investigating the cause after firefighters put out the blaze and prevented any structural damage to the building.
