April 11 update: 35 new Covid cases in B.C.; three more deaths
There are 35 new cases of COVID-19 in British Columbia, and three more deaths.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said it raises the case total to 1,445, and the number of deaths to 58.
There are three new cases in the Interior Health region for a total of 135.
A total of 134 are in hospital with 63 in intensive care, and 905 people have fully recovered from the virus.
An outbreak at the federal prison in Mission now involves 26 positive tests for inmates and staff with five hospitalized.
Dr. Henry emphasized the need to for social distancing through the long weekend. She encouraged people to find alternative ways to connect with family and friends and to avoid any unnecessary travel.
“We hope everybody is off enjoying their weekend spending time with their close family and their households, taking the time to unwind and be kind to each other,” said Henry.
Henry is confident most people are following the health orders and staying close to home, and staying a safe distance from others.
