Good news on B.C. Covid front heading into weekend
British Columbia is reporting four new Covid cases since Thursday, one of the lowest daily totals in recent weeks.
There is also no new deaths, with that total still at 164.
There are no new cases in Interior Health, with the total number still at 195.
The number of active cases in B.C. is at 228, with 34 people in hospital.
There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks. In total, 15 long-term care or assisted-living facilities and one acute-care unit have active outbreaks.
“Public health teams continue to provide support for community outbreaks at federal corrections facilities, the processing facilities in the poultry sector and for individuals connected to the Kearl Lake plant in Alberta,” said a joint statement from Health Minister Adrian Dix and provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.
The ban on cruise ships carrying more than 100 passengers in Canadian waters will now continue until the fall — putting an end to B.C.’s cruise ship season.
“We commend the federal government’s decision to maintain the restrictions on cruise ships in Canadian waters until October 31. This is the right thing to do for our country and our province right now to prevent the introduction of Covid-19 into our coastal communities,” said Henry and Dix.
The next B.C. Covid update will be at 1 p.m. Saturday.
