B.C.’s one wildfire, burning west of Merritt, up to 16 hectares

The one wildfire of note in all of B.C. is still burning out of control west of Merritt.
Speaking to CFJC Today Tuesday morning (July 21), Fire Information Officer Madison Smith says the Skuhun Creek fire between Merritt and Spences Bridge popped up Monday.
“It is currently 16 hectares in size and burning out of control in rocky terrain,” said Smith. “This morning, there are two helicopters and three unit crews for a total of 63 personnel on site.”
Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the blaze.
Smith says no structures or properties are threatened by the fire.
