Floodplain plan to be submitted for award
Highlights of the Central Okanagan Regional District Board Meeting – July 27, 2020
Sustainability Award Entry Supported The Regional Board supports staff submitting an entry to the Union of BC Community Excellence Awards in the Sustainability category. The entry for the Regional Floodplain Management Plan is focused on the first two phases of the plan that have been completed. The RDCO recently received a $150,000 grant from the UBCM Community Emergency Response Fund to complete the final phase which will include flood mitigation strategies for the Central Okanagan. In May, the RDCO was recognized by the Southern Interior Local Government Association with its Community Excellence in Environmental Sustainability award for coordination of the Okanagan Flood Mapping Project.
Transit Stops License of Occupation The Regional Board has approved a five-year License of Occupation Agreement with the City of Kelowna for several transit stops along Springfield Road within Mission Creek Regional Park. The agreement allows the relocation of the Leckie Road stop; improvement of the stop at Durnin Road and a new transit stop at Ziprick Road. It also renews a license for a transit stop on the southwest corner of Ziprick Road.
Development Variance Permit The Regional Board has approved a Development Variance Permit for a property in the 9600 block, Houghton Road in the Central Okanagan West Electoral Area. The variance affects the front setback for a new accessory building to replace several existing structures.
