Motorbikes involved in long weekend crashes
Salmon Arm RCMP were kept busy over the BC Day long weekend with 123 complaints including 18 minor motor vehicle crashes and two others of note that involved motorcycles.
One incident saw a pickup truck turn in front of a motorbike on the Trans Canada Highway in the Tappen area Friday (July 31).
The resulting crash sent the bike driver and a passenger to hospital in Kamloops with non-life threatening injuries.
“The operator of the motorcycle was transported via air ambulance as a precautionary measure. The driver of the truck was served a violation ticket under the provincial motor vehicle act,” said Staff Sgt. Scott West, the officer in charge of the Salmon Arm detachment.
On Sunday Aug. 2, a motorcycle left the road on Skimikin Road after losing control. The operator suffered fractures and was treated at Shuswap Lakes General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
West says Mounties in the Shuswap city also dealt with a number of minor assaults and disturbances.
