UPDATE: Several injured in highway crash involving taxi
UPDATE
BC Emergency Health Services received a call at 6:20 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 9) for a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 97 in Westwold (between Vernon and Kamloops).
Two ground and one air ambulance were dispatched to the scene.
Paramedics transported two patients with minor injuries to hospital.
Vernon North Okanagan RCMP say the crash occurred near Bulman Road in Westwold.
“A jeep who was headed north bound collided with a taxi headed south bound. No life threatening injuries were obtained, however three people were transported to the nearest medical facility for treatment. The collision is still under investigation at this time,”media relations officer Const. Kelly Brett told Vernon Matters.
Kamloops Fire and Rescue said rescue crews had to remove a door on one of the vehicles and extricate a person to be flown to hospital. The accident happened on a corner, and it’s believed one vehicle crossed the centre line and hit the second vehicle head on.
