Kelowna fire crews were called to a residential fire Tuesday evening.
“At approximately 8:43 p.m., the Kelowna Fire Department responded to a 911 report of a fire in a residence in the 2300 block of Richter Street. The first arriving officer reported smoke coming from the side of the residence,” said platoon captain Scott Clarke.
Crews quickly knocked down and extinguished a small fire in the kitchen.
The fire caused some smoke and minor damage to the kitchen area.
There were no injuries as the lone occupant and his pet got out of the home on their own.
Clarke said the fire is not considered suspicious.
The Kelowna Fire Department responded with four engines, a rescue unit, a command vehicle, safety unit and 18 personnel.
