RCMP investigate serious hit and run collision
A man is in hospital with serious injuries, and his dog was killed, after being struck by a motor vehicle that failed to remain at the scene of the collision Saturday evening (Oct. 25) in West Kelowna.
Just after midnight., RCMP received a report of a hit and run pedestrian involved collision in the 1300-block of Hudson Road. A blue sedan involved in the collision did not stop at the scene and was abandoned a short distance away at the intersection of Hudson Road and Concord Road in West Kelowna.
Officers attended to both locations and RCMP Police Dog Services conducted a search at the abandoned vehicle, but the driver was not located.
The pedestrian, a 35-year-old West Kelowna man, was rushed to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services in serious condition. Unfortunately, his dog succumbed to it’s injuries on scene.
The vehicle has been seized by police, and the investigation is ongoing.
“We wish to commend all those who called police immediately and stopped to provide assistance and comfort to the pedestrian who lay injured in the roadway,” stated Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy, spokesman for the West Kelowna RCMP. “We are now encouraging anyone who witnessed the collision unfold to contact police immediately with your information. Furthermore, if any motorist has any dash camera footage, or homeowner with surveillance video of the event, they are urged to contact the West Kelowna RCMP immediately.”
