RCMP apprehend woman on outstanding warrants
RCMP arrested a wanted woman after she allegedly committed another crime at a Kelowna business.
On November 13, 2020 at approximately 10:00 a.m., the Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of a woman believed to be wanted by police on outstanding warrants inside a business located in the 1800-block of Cooper Road. Officers arrived on scene and located their suspect in a nearby parking lot. After a brief foot pursuit, the officers took the woman into police custody without further incident.
Mounties identified the woman and determined that she was in fact wanted in British Columbia on several outstanding arrest warrants, mostly related to property crime offences. The suspect allegedly had multiple identity documents in her possession, that investigators believe were stolen from the purse of an 82-year-old woman, who had been shopping at the business just prior to the suspect’s arrest.
The 34-year-old Kelowna woman was held in custody on the strength of the outstanding warrants for her arrest. She now faces new potential charges BC Prosecution Service for the suspected stolen property in her possession.
