Snowfall warning for Coquihalla Highway
Another winter storm is set to blast the Coquihalla with up to 25 centimetres of snow on the mountain highway.
Environment Canada said a moist and unstable airmass will continue to give flurries to the Coquihalla Highway – Hope to Merritt route through Friday evening. Brief periods of heavier snow are likely again resulting in further accumulations of up to 15 cm near the summit by early Saturday morning.
The snow level is currently near 1100 metres and is expected to drop to below 600 overnight.
Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
Shift into winter reminds drivers to know before you go. Adjust to winter driving behaviour and use winter tires and chains.
