‘Stellar’ year for TV/film productions in Okanagan
The Okanagan Film Commissions is calling it a stellar year for film and television productions in the valley with 30 projects over the year.
The last of those is a movie called Dangerous starring Scott Eastwood, son of the legendary actor/director, and Mel Gibson which is currently filming in Lavington, Kelowna, Kamloops and Quilchena.
Commissioner Jon Summerland said the economic impact of this year’s projects will surpass previous years.
“And we have lined up a slate of MOW’s (movies of the week) and films that are booked well into 2021. In addition there are more productions planning to film here including reality shows, and multiple features (timing dependent on cross border talent).”
Dangerous also stars Tyrese Gibson, (The Fate of the Furious), Famke Janssen (Taken 1 and 2) and Canadian actor Kevin Durand (Ballers).
Canadian actors also include, Brendan Fletcher, Ryan Robbins, Brenda Bazinet, Leanne Lapp, Chad Rook, Brock Morgan, Destiny Millns and newcomer 10-year-old Atlee Smallman.
Summerland provided the following synopsis of the movie:
“After the death of his brother, a reformed sociopath (Eastwood) heads to a remote island which soon falls under siege from a deadly gang of mercenaries. Forced to fend for himself, he discovers their role in his brother’s demise and sets off a relentless quest for vengeance.”
The film is directed by David Hackl (SAW V); produced by Kevin DeWalt and Ben DeWalt (Mind’s Eye Entertainment) and Doug Falconer (Falconer Pictures).
