B.C,’s provincial health officer issued new orders which will halt liquor sales for New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31).
Dr. Bonnie Henry announced on Wednesdy concerns around New Year’s Eve parties led to the decision to halt alcohol sales for a one-day period.
“Liquor sales for on-site and off-site consumption must cease between 8 p.m on December 31 and 9 a.m on January 1, 2021,” she stated, “That applies to restaurants, pubs, and stores (including grocery stores) where liquor sales are done.”
Dr. Henry says the order does allow for restaurants to have meal service with the opportunity for people to order drinks with dinner before the 8 p.m cut off.
The order will be in effect for one day only.
