Woman dies in skiing accident
RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the death of a woman at Big White Ski Resort.
Police say emergency crews rushed to the resort just after 4 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 2) in response to a 911 call for a report of a deceased woman.
Officers learned that a 57-year-old woman, who relatives have identified as a Kelowna nurse, had been skiing and failed to meet her group.
Searchers located the woman in a wooded area and immediately began CPR, however she could not be resuscitated.
“Despite the best efforts of everyone involved, the woman passed away. At this time, criminality is not suspected in her death,” stated Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.”
Other details around the death have not been released.
The BC Coroners Service is also investigating the sudden death. Due to the privacy of the deceased, neither organization will be releasing or confirming identity.
