Police say woman’s death was hit and run
The death of a Shuswap woman on New Year’s Day is being investigated as a hit and run incident.
The victim, who was previously reported to be 65-years of age, has been positively identified as a 64-year-old woman. She was found at 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, suffering from significant injuries, on a private roadway within the Cedars RV and Resort on Luoma Road in Sicamous.
“Sicamous RCMP has been working in partnership with the Southeast District General Investigation Section and forensic specialists section on this criminal hit and run investigation,” Jesse O’Donaghey, District Advisory NCO (Media Relations) Southeast District, said.
“The investigation has led investigators to believe that the woman was struck by a motor vehicle,” Sgt. Murray McNeil, Detachment Commander of the Sicamous RCMP, stated. “This is now considered a fatal hit-and-run and we are once again asking the public for information regarding this incident.”
