A mental health incident at a Kelowna store drew a number of emergency responders.
RCMP was called to a business in the 1500-block of Banks Road around 2:00 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 14), for reports of an emotionally distraught man causing a disturbance and threatening to harm himself.
“Due to the potential dangers of the situation, police officers responded as quickly as possible, and immediately sought the support of emergency medical and fire crews. Front line officers were able to apprehend the 27-year-old man, who had been experiencing a mental health crisis, without injury,” Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy said.
The man was taken to hospital for medical assessment and care, with no further information released.
