Man arrested after dropping suspected drugs in hotel
RCMP say a suspicious item left in a Kelowna hotel is believed to be illicit drugs.
On Tuesday (Feb. 9), RCMP was called to a hotel for a report of a bag of what was believed to be crystal methamphetamine found in the lobby. Officers entered into an investigation and identified the man believed to have dropped the bag.
A short time later, the man was observed leaving the area in a vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated. The driver, a 23-year-old man, was arrested without incident. During a search of the vehicle, about one kilogram of what is believed to be fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine were seized.
The man has been released from custody without charges while the investigation continues, which includes a full analysis of the substances seized by police.
The full findings of the investigation will be forwarded to the Public Prosecution Services of Canada for review and charge approval.
