City seeks draft budget input
West Kelowna residents are invited to provide input on the city’s 2021 draft budget
People can visit a virtual open house between Feb. 16 to 25 at westkelownacity.ca or register to take part in a one-hour online information session Feb. 18 or 25.
“Find out about the City of West Kelowna’s annual capital and operating budgets designed to support council’s strategic priorities and keep our community moving forward,” a city news release stated. “We aim to upgrade aging infrastructure and modernize our community to provide more active transportation options including roundabouts at Bartley and Shannon Lake Roads and Gellatly and Carrington Roads and sidewalk and cycling connections on Shannon Lake Road.”
The proposed 4.05 per cent tax increase includes a one per cent levy to support the delivery of sidewalks, road improvements and other priority infrastructure investments.
“Our $59 million operating budget will ensure we maintain high quality services such as fire, rescue and policing to keep our community safe, parks, trails and recreation to keep us active and healthy and building, bylaw and development to support ongoing, steady growth in our city,” the news release added.
