Interior Health targets Enderby for special vaccination clinic
Due to high COVID-19 case counts, Interior Health will vaccinate all adults over 40 in Enderby and Invermere.
Adults age 40 and older in 13 other communities in B.C., representing almost 200,000 people, will also be eligible for the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine through health authority-run clinics.
Dawson Creek, West Newton, East Newton, Whalley, North Delta, Panorama, South Langley Township, West Abbotsford, North Surrey, Port Coquitlam, Squamish, Kensington and Fleetwood, have been considered hot spots based on the percentage of cases per 100,000 people.
Over 114,000 people have received the AstraZeneca vaccine, 91,000 through pharmacies, including Premier John Horgan.
About 1.15 million people, or 27 per cent of the adult population, have received at least one dose of vaccine, as of April 14. That leaves approximately 3.15 million adults left to be vaccinated.
“We are on track to have dose one to all British Columbians by July first,” provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry stated at Monday’s briefing.
Nearly 1.5 million doses of vaccine will land in B.C. by May 31,2021, providing first doses for roughly 60 per cent of the population.
