B.C. COVID-19 case count grows by 521
B.C. has recorded 521 new cases of COVID-19, including 62 within Interior Health.
The totals increase the overall case count in B.C. to 140,596, spread out as follows:
- 34,080 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 77)
- 81,969 — Fraser Health (up by 335)
- 4,971 — Island Health (up by 18)
- 11,878 — Interior Health (up by 62)
- 7,502 — Northern Health (up by 29)
- 195 — Reside outside of Canada (unchanged)
There are 4,815 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C., a decrease of 75 from Tuesday. There are 340 people in hospital and 118 in intensive care.
Within Interior Health, there are 495 active cases, an increase of 19 from Tuesday. Regionally, there are 19 people in hospital and 13 in critical care.
Eight more people have died of the virus, increasing B.C.’s death toll to 1,658. One of the deaths occurred in Interior Health, raising the regional death toll to 146.
A total of 133,985 people are considered fully recovered from the virus, or 95 per cent.
B.C. has administered 2,566,936 doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
Update on outbreaks:
· Orchard Haven long-term care in Keremeos has two cases: one resident and one staff.
· Spring Valley long-term care in Kelowna has 45 cases: 33 residents, 12 staff/other, with seven deaths connected to the outbreak.
