UPDATE: Crash claims lives of three Kelowna students

KELOWNA – Three high school students died in an overnight crash in Kelowna.
RCMP say the three victims were in the same vehicle that crashed on Gordon Drive at Cook Road.
The Central Okanagan School District has confirmed all three were Grade 12 students at Kelowna Secondary School.
The cause is under investigation.
RCMP officers arrived on scene just after midnight Wednesday, May 26 where a black Honda Civic car with three occupants, was found extensively damaged.
The 18-year-old female driver, an 18-year old male passenger and a 17-year-old female passenger, all from the Kelowna area, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
“The Kelowna RCMP wish to thank the public for their patience while Gordon Drive remained closed, as our investigators were on scene to collect evidence to assist in determining the cause of the collision,” Cst. Solana Paré of the Kelowna RCMP, said. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to friends and family affected by this tragic collision. RCMP Victim Services are providing support to the witnesses, friends and family of the victims during this difficult time.”

KELOWNA – Part of a Kelowna road is closed to traffic as police investigate a single vehicle crash that killed three people.
On Wednesday, May 26, 2021 just after midnight, Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Gordon Drive north of Cook Street. When officers arrived, they found the vehicle had sustained extensive damage, and the three occupants were deceased.
“Officers are in the process of identifying the occupants and completing the next-of-kin notifications, and the BC Coroner’s Service has been notified,” Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy said.
Due to the severity of the collision, the area of Gordon Drive between Lexington Drive and Cook Road is closed until the scene investigation is complete.
Noseworthy said more updates will be released as they become available.
