Crews knock down flames below homes

Kelowna Fire Department received numerous 911 calls just before 2:00 p.m., reporting smoke and flames coming from a wooded area off of Cassiar Court on Dilworth Mountain.

The first arriving officer found a Rank 2 to 3 fire burning in the woods, approximately 140’ x 40’ in size and just below a group of houses.

The fire was quickly knocked down by crews. It was contained, extinguished and the perimeter has been guarded.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, but it is not believed to be suspicious.
