COVID-19 cases rise in B.C., but still low
B.C. saw a slight increase in new COVID-19 cases Wednesday.
Forty-one (41) cases were reported, up from the 33 on Tuesday and 30 on Monday.
Interior Health had 16 of the new cases with 11 in Fraser Health, 10 in Vancouver Coastal, one in Island Health, two in Northern Health and one new case of a person who resides outside of Canada.
Interior Health now has 157 active cases, with 639 in the province. Of the active cases, 65 people are in hospital and 11 are in intensive care. The rest are recovering at home in self-isolation.
In the past 24 hours, no new deaths have been reported for an overall total of 1,760.
Since December 2020, the province has administered 5,872,611 doses of COVID vaccines.
As of Wednesday, 79.3 per cent (3,674,169) of eligible people 12 and older have received their first dose and 47.3 per cent (2,191,315) have had two doses.
In addition, 80.3 per cent (3,475,111) of all eligible adults in B.C. have had one dose and 50.5 per cent (2,185,443) were fully vaccinated.
