Almost half of B.C.’s new COVID-19 cases in Interior
Interior Health (IH) led the five B.C. health regions in new COVID-19 cases today.
The IH total represents 47 per cent of the 45 new cases in the province with 21 new cases in the region. This raises the overall total to 145,908.
There are 652 active cases provincially with 60 people in hospital and 12 in intensive care.
In the past 24 hours, no new deaths have been reported for an overall total of 1,761.
The new/active cases include:
* 13 new cases in Fraser Health
* Total active cases: 163
* eight new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health
* Total active cases: 259
* 21 new cases in Interior Health
* Total active cases: 164
* one new case in Northern Health
* Total active cases: 29
* two new cases in Island Health
* Total active cases: 30
* no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada
* Total active cases: seven
The immunization program hit another milestone today, surpassing six million vaccine doses going into arms.
As of today, 79.5 per cent (3,686,611) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose and 49.9 per cent (2,310,888) received their second dose.
In addition, 80.6 per cent (3,485,949) of all eligible adults have had one dose and 53.2 per cent (2,301,322) are fully vaccinated.
