156 new COVID-19 cases in B.C. over weekend
British Columbia had 156 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend, including 56 on Saturday, 60 on Sunday and 40 today.
Interior Health had 58 of the new infections and currently has 179 active cases.
There are currently 653 active cases in the province with 49 people in hospital and 12 in intensive care.
In the last 72 hours, two new deaths have been reported in the Fraser and Vancouver Coastal Health regions, for an overall total of 1,763.
The new/active cases include:
* 63 new cases in Fraser Health
* Total active cases: 166
* 27 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health
* Total active cases: 246
* 58 new cases in Interior Health
* Total active cases: 179
* three new cases in Northern Health
* Total active cases: 33
* four new cases in Island Health
* Total active cases: 21
* one new case of a person who resides outside of Canada
* Total active cases: eight
Since December 2020, the province has administered 6,173,328 doses of the COVID vaccines. As today (July 19), 79.9 per cent (3,701,843) of eligible people 12 and older have received their first dose and 53.2 per cent (2,464,201) have had two doses.
In addition, 80.9 per cent (3,499,069) of all eligible adults have got their first dose and 56.6 per cent (2,447,323) are fully vaccinated.
