Connector fire still ‘out of control,’ but little growth
The Brenda Creek wildfire northwest of Peachland is not showing any significant growth.
BC Wildfire said Friday the fire is estimated at 622 hectares and is classified as out of control.
An evacuation alert continues for a section of the mostly rural Central Okanagan West Electoral Area in the Regional District of Central Okanagan, south of Highway 97-C and northwest of Peachland.
A map is available at www.cordemergency.ca/map with the specific details of the area affected by the Alert. This areas remains under a BC Wildfire Area Restriction Order.
Portions of the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen and Thompson Nicola Regional District are also affected.
The next scheduled update on the fire from the emergency operation centre will be early next week.
“The EOC remains active and monitoring the wildfire. If conditions change and a further emergency update is required it will be posted online at www.cordemergency.ca and emailed to subscribers,” a news release from Central Okanagan Emergency Operations, said.
