Year comes to close with over 3,700 new COVID cases in B.C.
British Columbia ended 2021 with another big number of new COVID-19 cases.
The Health Ministry reported 3,795 cases on Friday, down from the record high of 4,383 on Thursday.
There are currently 20,811 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, with 220 people in hospital and 73 in intensive care.
An updated figure for Omicron cases was not provided.
The new/active cases include:
* 320 new cases in Interior Health
* Total active cases: 1,792
* 1,944 new cases in Fraser Health
* Total active cases: 9,050
* 965 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health
* Total active cases: 7,135
* 129 new cases in Northern Health
* Total active cases: 494
* 434 new cases in Island Health
* Total active cases: 2,336
* three new cases of people who reside outside of Canada
* Total active cases: four
In the last 24 hours, three new deaths have been reported, for an overall total of 2,423.
The new deaths include one each in Fraser Health, Vancouver Coastal Health and Island Health.
There have been two new health-care facility outbreaks at Kopernik Lodge (Vancouver Coastal Health) and Amica Douglas House (Island Health), for a total of 15 facilities with ongoing outbreaks, including one in Interior Health at Ridgeview Lodge.
From Dec. 23-29, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 16 per cent of cases and from Dec. 16-29 they accounted for 55 per cent of hospitalizations.

As of today, 88.1 per cent of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 82.9 per cent have had two doses and 19.6 per cent (909,248) have gotten a third dose.
