Realtors play poker to raise funds for summer camp
An Okanagan charity took home the jackpot from a fundraising poker event that was making its return from a three-year pandemic absence.
The 9th annual Texas Hold’Em Charity Poker Tournament, hosted by Century 21 Assurance Realty in Kelowna, featured more than one-hundred players who helped raise $30,000 for Easter Seals Camp Winfield.
The facility in Lake Country provides an overnight summer camping experience for children, youth and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities.
“Each year our office rallies together to raise funds to send kids to Camp Winfield. These camps are so important to the development of kids and adults with disabilities. It puts a smile on their faces and ours,” said Anna Carbone, co-owner of Century 21 Assurance Realty. “We are so proud to be part of a community like Easter Seals that supports people with disabilities and gives them an opportunity to explore and learn new skills in a fun camp environment.”
The real estate firm is a long-time supporter of Easter Seals, with their C21 Kids To Camp program raising $375,000 the last 12 years through events that help raise awareness of Camp Winfield. Select realtors make donations with the sale or purchase of a home through the Century 21 Closing Gifts for Kids program.
“This annual fundraiser helps us raise vital funds needed to run our programs, and we are so grateful to Anna and her team who focus their fundraising efforts towards Easter Seals,” said Lisa Beck, President and CEO of Easter Seals BC/Yukon.
