Campsite reservations to start in January
Campers will be able to kick off the new year by booking campsites through the B.C. Parks online reservation system.
The province says reservations will open at 7 a.m. on Jan. 3 for bookings up to four months in advance — an increase from the previous two-month booking window.
A list of campground operating and reservable dates can be found at: https://bcparks.ca/operating-dates/
Environment Minister George Heyman said the province has received feedback that most campers prefer a four-month rolling window, allowing people to book a site well in advance of their visit.
The province says more campgrounds are also being added to the new reservation service, including Gwillim Lake Park near Chetwynd, Yahk Park near the Kingsgate border crossing and Allison Lake Park near Princeton.
Additionally, reservations for the popular Bowron Lake Canoe Circuit in Bowron Lake Provincial Park will open for the entire 2023 season at 7 a.m. on Dec. 1, 2022.
More than 317,000 reservations were made on the new BC Parks reservation service for the 2022 season – an increase of 26.5 per cent since 2019.
