RCMP investigating armed robbery
Mounties in Kelowna are investigating an armed robbery late Tuesday night.
The RCMP say an alarm indicating a robbery was triggered at a business in the 1300 block of Bernard Ave. at approximately 10 p.m. Nov. 8.
Police arrived on the scene and a staff member told officers the incident was a robbery with a firearm.
The suspect was described as a male in a black ski mask and gloves. He allegedly entered the business and pointed a handgun at the staff member before handing over a bag and demanding money.
An undisclosed amount of cash, four packages of cigarettes and other merchandise was taken by the suspect before he took off on foot.
It’s not know if the suspect fled the scene on foot or if a vehicle was involved, nor is it known which direction he went.
The RCMP deployed several resources in an attempt to locate the suspect, including the Kelowna Police Dog Service, but the suspect was not found.
The police is now asking for public assistance in the investigation. Anyone with dash cam or surveillance footage from the area at the time of the robbery or any other information relating to the case is asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or to file an anonymous report with Okanagan Crime Stoppers online or at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
