Interior sees drop in COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths
The COVID-19 situation in the Interior saw a week-over-week improvement.
The weekly report from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) confirmed a total of 97 new cases in the Interior between Nov. 13 and 19. That was down from the previous week when 134 cases were confirmed in the egion.
The most recent week saw 21 people admitted to hospital with the virus in the Interior, including three into critical care. Comparatively, the week before had 26 hospitalizations, including three ICU admissions.
There were five deaths in the Interior linked to COVID-19, down from 14 the previous week.
As a whole, the province saw case figures rise from 484 the past week to 498 in the latest week.
However, the cases were all that rose on a week-over-week basis in B.C.
The hospitalizations recorded between Nov. 13 and 19 were 144, including 23 ICU admissions, down from 189 hospitalizations and 36 ICU admissions the week prior.
There were 21 British Columbians who died due to COVID-19 in the latest week, down from 41 the week before.
To date, there have been 389,479 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province, 69,572 of which were recorded in the Interior.
A total of 4,642 British Columbians have died due to COVID-19, 730 of whom were within the Interior.
