Cases of COVID-19 falling in the Interior
Interior Health is seeing cases of COVID-19 declining.
The B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) reported a total of 97 confirmed cases of the virus in the Interior between Nov. 13 and 19.
That figure was down from the 134 cases confirmed in the region the previous week.
The Interior also saw 21 people admitted to hospital with a COVID-19 infection, as well as three infected individuals admitted to intensive care units (ICU).
The hospitalization figure was down from the previous week’s 26 admissions, though the ICU admission was flat.
There were five deaths linked to COVID-19 in the Interior in the latest weekly report, down from 14 the previous week.
As of Nov. 24, there were 35 COVID positive patients in Interior hospitals, including six in critical care.
Meanwhile, the province as a whole saw 498 confirmed cases of the virus last week, up from 484 the week before.
There were 144 COVID positive hospital admissions, including 23 into ICUs, in the latest week. Those were down from the 189 hospitalizations and 36 ICU admissions the previous week.
There were a total of 21 deaths linked to the virus between Nov. 13 and 19, down from 41 deaths the week before.
A total of 328 British Columbians were in hospital with COVID-19 as of Nov. 24, including 37 in critical care.
To date, there have been 389,479 confirmed cases of the virus in B.C., including 69,572 in the Interior.
A total of 4,642 British Columbians have died due to COVID-19, 730 of which were from within the Interior.
