Kelowna RCMP cracking down on impaired drivers on New Year’s
Kelowna RCMP will step up enforcement on impaired drivers for the New Year weekend.
As part of the annual CounterAttack Campaign, Kelowna RCMP Traffic Services will have a heavy police presence and be conducting road checks throughout the city.
“Road safety year round is a priority for our team,” said Const. Mike Della-Paolera, the media relations officer for Kelowna RCMP said.
“We understand people will be out having a great time ringing in the New Year on Saturday night, but everyone needs to remember to be safe and plan a safe ride home. Our teams will be out in full force this weekend.”
The RCMP reminds drivers there are harsh penalties for impaired drivers.
It was also noted impaired driving results in over 60 lives lost in 1,700 collisions across B.C. each year.
