Noah, Olivia most popular baby names in B.C.

Previously popular baby names appear to have again topped the charts in B.C. in 2022.

Vital Statistics states preliminary data puts Noah as the most popular name for boys and Olivia as the most popular name for girls this past year.

Oliver and Liam were the runner-up popular boy names in B.C., while Emma and Sofia were the other most popular girl names.

In 2021, the most common boy names were Liam, Noah and Jack, and the most popular girl names were Olivia, Emma and Charlotte.

The last time Noah topped the charts for most popular boy names in B.C. was 2007, while Olivia has been the most common girl name in B.C. every year since 2011.

Vital Statistics did not have specific figures for baby names in 2022 as of time of publication.

Vital Statistics did report there were 37,801 babies born in B.C. between January 1 and December 8 of 2022.

Comparatively, in all of 2021 there were 44,073 babies born in B.C.
